Nigel Short announces his resignation as FIDE Vice-President with immediate effect

Nigel Short has announced his resignation as FIDE Vice-President with immediate effect. Since since October 2018, Nigel Short was serving as Vice-president of FIDE in the Arkadij Dvorkovich administration.

The announcement of Nigel Short comes at a strange moment, as he is currently playing the FIDE World Senior Team Chess Championships Acqui Terme (read more)

In 2022 Ding Liren and Fabiano Caruana celebrate their 20-year-long chess rivalry anniversary. Their first encounter happened back in 2002 at the U10 World Youth Chess Championship in Heraklion, Crete. Back then the non-rated Ding Liren defeated Caruana.

Polish Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda used the first resting day of the Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 to take a walk in Madrid. He shared the photo on his official Twitter account from El Retiro Park which hides the best place for playing chess.

1st Caplin Menchik Memorial LIVE

The 1st Caplin Menchik Memorial takes place from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th June 2022 at the MindSports Centre, London. It’s a 10-player all-play-all, one game per day, with WIM & WGM norm opportunities. The tournament is taking place thanks to the generous support of Caplin Systems, who also support the Hastings Congress. The tournament has also received financial support from the English Chess Federation, The Chess Trust, and the Friends of Chess.
