The FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 decides the qualifier for the FIDE World Chess Championship Match and kicks off on Saturday, June 17th, with the first round.

World No 9, GM Anish Giri announced today that he will do daily recaps on the 2022 FIDE Candidates Tournament. Giri was one of the favorites to qualify for the Candidates, but didn’t make it after the series of qualification events.

The Technical meeting of the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 took place today in the official venue of the event Palacio de Santoña.

Chief Arbiter Anastasia Sorokina, Fair Play Officer Vincent Geeraets, Medical Officer Maria Rubio Yuste, and Technical Tournament Director and FIDE Managing Director Dana Reizniece-Ozola discussed the health protocol, Fair Play policy, anti-cheating measures, and all other competitive and organizational matters with the players.
