Three players share the lead at FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Gibraltar

Three players share the lead after round four of the Gibraltar leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix, played at the Caleta Hotel on 25 May 2021. Zhansaya Abdumalik (Kazakhstan), Mariya Muzychuk (Ukraine) and Kateryna Lagno (Russia) have three points from a possible four, and they are also the only players in the field who remain unbeaten, such has been the uncompromising nature of the play. In fourth place is Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany) on 2½.

WIM Rucha Pujari is a professional chess player from India. Among many other achievements Rucha Pujari is a holder of eight medals from Asian Chess Championships in different categories, four medals from Commonwealth Chess Championships, fifteen (!) medals from National Chess Championships including six gold medals, and more.

Carlsen barely gets to the FTX Crypto Cup finals

Rapid advance: In a last round drama, the World Champion Magnus Carlsen barely managed to qualify for the FTX Crypto Cup finals. In a nail-biter vs Radjabov, Magnus managed to take a dramatic full point (replay). With a draw he would have been out of the competition.

Besides Carlsen, to the next round advance Caruana, Giri, Nakamura, So, Radjabov, Vachier-Lagrave, and Nepomniachtchi.
