28th 4NCL Congress Open

28th 4NCL Congress Open starts today and will be played over the weekend 8-10 July at Woodland Grange, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

The event features three tournaments: Open, Under 2000 and U1700, with all events being played in 5 swiss rounds, with time control: All moves in 90 minutes plus 30 second increment per move from move 1. The total prize fund of the events is 3.000£.

International Chess Festival Paracin 2022 LIVE

The 15th edition of the International Chess Festival Paracin 2022 takes place from 8 – 16 July at the Pool Prestige Hotel in Paracin. Just two days after the end of one of the biggest European Open chess events in Novi Sad, Paracin hosts another massive and strong Open event.

Trinidad and Tobago International Open Chess Tournament 2022 concluded

The Trinidad & Tobago Chess Association organized the Trinidad and Tobago International Open Chess Tournament 2022 from 1-8 July at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.

The event featured two tournaments: the 10-player round-robin invitational Masters and the Open tournament (for players rated U2200). Both events were played in 9 rounds, with time control: 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds of increment.

2022 New York GM/IM Summer Invitational LIVE

The 2022 New York GM/IM Summer Invitational kicked off yesterday at Hilton Garden Inn Midtown Park Ave, New York. The event takes place from 7-11 July with four 10-player round-robin tournaments for grandmasters and international masters norms. All information about the tournaments can be found here

Praggnanandhaa arrives in Serbia for the 15th International Chess Festival Paracin

16-year-old Indian chess star Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa has arrived in Serbia where he will play the 15th International Chess Festival Paracin. The event starts tomorrow and will be played from 8 – 16 July at the Pool Prestige Hotel in Paracin – a town located in the Pomoravlje District of central Serbia.

Hikaru Nakamura has just finished the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 in Madrid and already published the schedule for this week’s streams. He yesterday had a Rollercoaster Rating Blitzing for 3200 online rating: “I will play six games. I will just win six games and I am gonna probably call it a day” said Hikaru.

Mai Narva is the first Estonian female chess player to achieve the IM title

22-year-old WGM Mai Narva is the four-time Estonian Women’s National Chess Champion. She won her first National Champion title at the age of 15, winning the 2014 Estonian Women’s Championship. At the recently concluded 2022 Serbia Chess Open Masters Narva made her third and final IM norm. With 5/9 points, Mai had an impressive performance of 2467 and added 19.8 points to her current rating of 2385.

Russian Championships Higher League concluded in Obninsk

The Higher League of the 75th Russian Championship and the 72nd Russian Women’s Championship took place from 25 June – 6 July in Obninsk. The top 5 finishers in each tournament received the right to play in the 2022 Russian Championships Superfinals. 

FIDE World Youth U14, U16 and U18 Chess Championships 2022

The World Youth Chess Championships U14, U16, and U18 will take place from September 05-17, 2022 in Mamaia, Romania. The 11-round Swiss System tournaments, organized by International Chess Federation and Romanian Chess Federation together with Chess Club Universul and Chess Club Juniorul Constanta, will be held in Constanta Exhibition Centre.

Ian Nepomniachtchi won the 2022 FIDE Candidates Tournament, thus qualifying for the World Chess Championship Match. But it is still unknown whether Magnus Carlsen will accept to defend the World Champion title.
