The European School Chess Championship 2025 takes place May 30 – June 7 in Mamaia, Romania.

The event is played in 6 age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17, open and girls sections separately. Each tournament will be played in 9 rounds, with the time control of 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

Parham Maghsoodloo is the winner Grand Prix PlusCity 2025, one of the top rapid and blitz events in The Chess Calendar of 2025. In the event, that took place in Austria this May 29th, Maghsoodloo scored 12,0/13, finishing 1,5 points ahead of Baadur Jobava and Tobias Koelle. Top seeded Alexey Sarana is fifth 10,0/13, while second top seed Alexander Grischuk collected a total of 9,5/13.

Israel Women Elite Chess League takes place may 29 – May 31 in Netanya, Israel. From June 2 to 15, La Versiliana will host Chess Roads – an exhibition of 40 rare and original chess sets from Asia and Europe. On June 1, the event will open with a match between Faustino Oro and Viswanathan Anand: the youngest titled chess player in the world versus the legendary former World Champion (full details here).
